Question and Answers

Q:

I need the manual for a Kenmore Top Mount refrigerator

A:

I know how useful getting the manual for most home appliances can be so that you can troubleshoot properly. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include the full model number of your appliance so that the expert can provide you with a more detailed answer. I did manage to find a link in where you can enter your appliance model number and the owners manual will pop up. I hope my link is useful.

The Freezer door is defective and fails to seal. I don't know if the door is sprung? Right now I have to tape the door shut by running tape from the freezer door to the main frame of the refrigerator. Do you have any experience in that area?

A:

I recommend checking the door gasket first. If it is torn or bunched up in the corner, it should be replaced. To replace the door gasket remove the top hinge from the refrigerator. Then lay the door on a flat surface with the door hanging off the edge. Now pull the inside of the gasket out and loosen the screws. Once the screws are loosened, the door should lay flat. If you have to replace the gasket, you can pull it out of the track and replace it at this time. With the door flat, tighten the screws. Once all of the screws are tight, make sure it is flat. If it is flat, you can install it on the refrigerator. If there are any wrinkles in the gasket, you can remove them with a hair dryer. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the refrigerator.

On closer examination, I find that the inner freezer liner is severely cracked. Is a part replacement available for the inner freezer liner? Thanks again.

A:

I have looked up the door liner. I am sorry it is no longer available. The door liner adds rigidity to the door. You will probably have problems with the door sealing if the liner is broken even if the seal is replaced. You can try just replacing the gasket but it might not help. It might be time to look at a new refrigerator. The link below will take you to the model we offer now. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

If I install defrost timer 482493 in Kenmore refrigerator 106.8670310, do I need clip 2176341?

A:

I'm not aware of a clip that needs to be used with this timer. This is the standard timer used in almost all of these model refrigerators. When I checked the timer with this model number, I didn't see anything relating to a clip being needed. The timer alone should be all that is needed but if it won't mount, then order the clip. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.
