Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore model #1068562783 is a 22' side by side refrigerator. Freezer side freezes, but other side will not cool below 50 degrees. Why?

A:

Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it can be when the refrigerator does not reach the desired temperature. Verify that the temperature settings are correct. The freezer temperature should be about 5 degrees and refrigerator side about 37 degrees. Make sure the lamp is turning off when the door is closed. Open the refrigerator door and press the door switch down to check if the light turns off. Check that the evaporator fan is running and not blocked and that there is no excess frost on the evaporator.
SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
Also, I recommend testing your door gaskets for leaks. Test the refrigerator gasket with the power connected, if desired. Open the door and place a piece of paper or dollar in the door gap, between the metal and the rubber gasket lining the inside of the door. Close the door and tug at the paper. Resistance from the door seal indicates no gap or leak in that portion of the door. Repeat the testing procedure all along the perimeter of both the door to the refrigerator and to the freezer. Any areas where the paper easily pulls out from the door have a leak or gap in the gasket.

Looking for information to install part number 983359 (the light lens). To clarify, this is the lens (light bulb cover) in the freezer under the ice cube bin.

I'm sorry you are having a problem with this light lens. You have received some good information from Jackie but it does not pertain to this problem. This lens just snaps in place. There are no screws holding it, just tabs. There should be some slots for the bottom arms to fit into and then raise it up to snap in place. I hope this helps you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you. It's not that simple. On the bottom, one side of the light lens is longer than the other. It is like an arm that extends unevenly. The right side tab fits in easily, but the left side tab won't quite reach the slot because the longer bottom arm is butting into the back of the freezer. The best way I can explain it is"The parts of the puzzle are not fitting together". If I can avoid it I would prefer not to pay for a home visit for this simple installation of a plastic part.

I'm sorry that you are having this problem. Unfortunately. there is no other way to install this lens. I suggest checking it against the left side of the original lens or measuring each one, to see if the arm on the new lens, is longer. If it is, then it will need to be exchanged. I hope this helps you.
