Question and Answers

Q:

freezer icing up new bi-metal sensor didn't help 1068552610 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you.

I recommend testing the evaporator fan to make sure it is working. When it does not work or is going out it starts to get warm.

I have attached instructions to test the parts.

To replace the evaporator fan in your refrigerator you have to remove the back panel inside of the freezer. To remove the panel first remove the air duct. Two screws that I have marked with a red box in the image below attach the air duct. Once the air duct is removed, you should see two more screws that hold the panel in place. Remove those two screws and the panel should be able to be removed. Then replace the fan and reassemble in the reverse order.

Q:

ice maker not making ice 1068552610 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your ice maker is not making any ice. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information that will assist you. I recommend testing the ice maker to see what is wrong.

1. Check the temperature of the freezer becasue if it is fewer than 17 degrees F it wont make ice.
2.Check if your water fill spout is plugged with ice, if it is then it wont make ice.
3. Check to see if water is getting to the water inlet valve.
4.Use an OHM meter to check the continuity of the water inlet valve. If it does not have any continuity then you need to replace your water valve. If it does then the icemaker itself is the problem and may need to be replaced.

Is your unit not getting water? Is the dispenser working? Whats the ice maker doing?

Thanks Bill, Your picture of the face of the dispenser unit does not look like my cover, but I assume it may work the same. Before I try and maybe break the damn thing I thought I would ask you if my model humber refrigerator will work the same as what you show in the pictures. Thanks for your reply in advance, Fritz

Should work just fine as the bezals either come off by removing screws under the drip pan in the dispenser or clip off. A plastic putty knife works fine or a small flat bladed screwdriver.

Thanks again Bill, There are no screw under the drip pan. Where would you put the putty knife to unclip the face of the dispenser unit. Can I reclip it after the fix inside or do you think I will need new clips? Good day, Fritz

A:

The clips are clastic and will give, check the bottom of the face plate for 2 small holes in the very bottom, if the holes are there the holes will allow a small flat bladed screwdriver to be incerted and the plate loosened from the bottom
