dehumidifier won't shut off 106850301 Kenmore Dehumidifier

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dehumidifier is not working properly.

It sounds to me like a switch has gone bad in the unit. I checked to see if any parts are available and I do apologize due to the age of the product the parts are no longer available. It would be cost effective to purchase a new unit.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Q:

oiling motor 106850301 Kenmore Dehumidifier

A:

 Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife.  I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

You will find 6 screws hold the cabinet to the base, there will be 3 on either side.

Unplug the unit from the wall and remove the 6 screws and lift the cover off the base.  From there you should see the motor and the oiler hole.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Bill

Chas, disreguard the above instruction as I understand that you are not purchasing a part but just pulling maintenance on the unit.

Thank you for your question. Not having a wiring diagram can present a problem when trying to rewire an appliance. Unfortunately, the wiring diagram for this older dehumidifier is no longer available. If the terminals are marked L and N, it means the L terminal will be hot and N is neutral or if one terminal is bronze and the other is silver, the bronze terminal will be hot and the silver is neutral. Now, the power cord will usually have a smooth side and a ribbed side. The smooth side will be hot and the ribbed side will be neutral. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will try to assist you further.

Thanks for the quick response. Terminals are both bronze, unmarked. One is on a terminal board, the other to the water level switch. I am attaching a photograph.

George, thank you for the picture but without seeing more of the wires and where they go, I'm not able to determine how it should be wired. I see a white wire there on the terminal board next to the arrow, which could indicate this terminal will be the neutral connection. However, I would recommend having a technician actually see this, to determine how to wire it. You can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out or to locate the nearest repair center.
