A:

The vacuum you are describing is caused by the warm air that enters the freezer when the door is open rapidly closing. This is affected by how much food is in the freezer, how warm the air outside the freezer is, how cold the air inside the freezer is, and how long the door is held open.

If the freezer is maintaining a proper temperature and no frost is forming inside, you should not be concerned by the vacuum seal of the gasket.

If you are concerned about the freezer schedule service and get a Sears technician to check the freezer.

Q:

Does the power signal light effect the cooling, if it goes out?

A:

The power indicator light only shows if there is power to the freezer. It won't have any effect on the cooling, if the light works inside and the fan is running. It just means the indicator light has burned out. What needs to be determined now is, if the compressor is running or not. If the compressor is running, this will probably be a seal system problem or the compressor is not pumping properly. If the compressor is not running, it may have failed or the starting components have failed. A technician will have the necessary equipment and be required to make these checks. The signal light is # 1103639 and is available at Sears PartsDirect . If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
