Why does the water taste like rust/dirt on my Kenmore refrigerator model number 106.74909400?

This problem is usually caused by the type of water supply line used. If the supply line to the refrigerator is plastic it needs to be changed to copper. After awhile, the reservoir will absorb the odor from the water, so the reservoir # 2300485 will also need to be replaced and the filter #9915. These parts are available at SearsPartsDirect .

Hello, Thank you for your answer. Both the old and new water supply tubes are copper. The water doesn't have an odor until it comes out of the refridgerator. Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure that this is the problem. Is there a possiblity that the reservoir has rusted? Would a smelly or rusted resevoir also affect the smell/taste of the ice from the automatic ice maker? Thank you. This problem is usually caused by the type of water supply line used.
