Ice maker is making cubes very slowly. 106.74254402

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 106.74254402. From reviewing the details on your model, If the ice maker is cycling and filling then all of the components in that system are probably working properly. I recommend that you check the settings. You can set the freezer to a slightly colder setting and this will normally help make ice faster. Make sure that you air flow patterns in the freezer and the refrigerator are not blocked.

You can check the freezer temperature by placing a thermometer between some bags of frozen food on a top shelf. Wait a few hours before reading the thermometer. The freezer should at least be a zero degrees. It can be kept at -1 or -2 degrees to make ice quicker.

Try to keep the freezer and refrigerator doors closed as much as possible. This will help increase ice production. If you open the freezer to check for ice production too often, it will continue to harvest the ice slowly.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.
