Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my Kenmore refrigerator leaking water from the freezer into the refrigerator section?

A:

Everyday your refrigerator goes through an automatic defrost cycle. During the defrost cycle water should drain down a hose & into the pan below the refrigerator #58 where the water will evaporate. If the drain pans #7 drain outlet is clogged, the water will pool up & then freeze over the drain pan outlet. This causes water to drip into the refrigerator section every time the unit goes through the defrost cycle. You will need to remove the rear panel #16 in the freezer to access the drain pan. You can use hot water or a hair drier to defrost out the drain pan. On very rare occasions the drain hose built-in to the liner will be restricted. This hose cannot be replaced. Also, be sure to check the door gaskets for proper sealing.
