Question and Answers

Q:

freezer is cold, but refrigerator has gradually stopped cooling. 10674202400 Kenmore Elite Top mount refrigerator

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 106.74202400. From reviewing the details on your model,First, check to make sure the light is turning off when the door is closed and also that the door is making a good seal to the cabinet. Next, check for a frost accumulation on the back wall in the freezer. This would reduce the air flow to the fridge section and would then indicate a defrost problem. If these checks are ok, there is a higher speed fan that will help solve this type of problem. There may be a fan blade included with this motor but do not use it.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

Ice Buildup in Freezer 10674202400 Kenmore Elite Top mount refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with refrigerator. Upon researching model 11061202011; the fan is used to move the cold air into the freezer. It could be that the fan is causing the frost if it doesn’t stop. Also there is a defroster that is supposed to turn on to defrost the freezer. I recommend calling our repair department to have a tech diagnose the unit. It could be the control board is malfunctioning or a certain part of the board is.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question. I can see you have been dealing with a couple of issues. First, the ice maker. Check the fill tube to the ice maker tray to see if it is partially frozen.  It may be continuing to drip water into the tray and causing the overfill. After the ice is harvested, observe the ice maker during the fill cycle. It may also be a crack in the fill cup. The best way to check the fill cup will be to pull the ice maker out. First disconnect power to the unit. Now remove the 2 screws on top of the ice maker mold and the one under it. The ice maker will now be free and you can disconnect the wire harness. Now pull the ice maker out and check for an obstruction in the fill cup or a crack. If you can't see anything, pour some water in the cup and watch where the water goes. If a new fill cup is needed, you can order at Sears Parts Direct .  The leak from the ice maker may be the cause of the freezer freezing up, as well. The image below contains the diagnostic for the refrigerator requested. If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.
