Question and Answers

Q:

Sears Kenmore refrigerator model # 106.73284301 refrigerator ice maker # 106.73284301 refrigerator

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the icemaker noise on the refrigerator. I know how frustrating that is.

Based on the information listed, if the noise is coming from the icemaker, it would lead to the icemaker motor or the gears. In this case, the icemaker # 4317943 will need to be replaced. Now, this model is showing to have the Acceler ice feature and it's possible the Acceler ice motor may be causing this noise. Lifting the icemaker shut off arm should turn the Acceler ice motor off. If the noise stops the Acceler ice assembly # 2255794 will need to be replaced.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. The information you have received is good but does not pertain to this model. If the frost is accumulating on the back wall in the freezer, this will be a defrost problem. If the frost is all over in the freezer, it will be from air leaking inside the freezer. For this condition check the door gasket for a gap or gaps. If there is a gap or gaps in the gasket, a hair dryer can be used to smooth them out. Just be careful not to get it too hot.

If the frost is only on the back wall, the defrost system will need to be checked. A technician may be needed to make these checks. In the meantime, you can turn the unit off for a few hours to allow it time to thaw out. There will be as much or more ice in back of the panel, as you see in front. When all of the ice is gone, the unit will work ok again, until the frost builds back up. This will give you time to have a technician come out to check it. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this helps you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

Re: Kenmore Coldspot model # 106.73284301 Thank you for the response Scott. It does seem like the frost problem is at the front of the freezer so I will try to heat up the gasket. I just want to make sure on this...the gasket is the rubber seal that goes all the way around the door right? James, thank you as well I will check out the link you provided. I realized I missed entering the 1 at the beginning of my model # when first posting.

Yes, the gasket is the rubber seal that goes all the way around the door. Using a hair dryer to heat the gasket will smooth out any gaps. Just be careful not to get the gasket to hot and melt it. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
