Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to have the starting relay for the compressor.

I am sorry but could you have copied the model number down wrong, because I cannot pull up anything with the number your have given.

I do not think it is a capacitor, because I do not remember these old units having a capacitor unless someone has put a hard start kit on the unit during service. What it does sound like is a locked rotor on the compressor.

I should have a start rely and overload and that is all.

If you could verify the model number I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

My old Sears (made by whirlpool) dehumidifier model is 106639281. The capacitor is part 644463. It does come up on the Sears parts list, but is not available. Is there a replacement capacitor available? The capacitor is identified as a "run capacitor". Thanks, James

Thank you for the update on the dehumidifier. If you can read the information on the side of the capacitor it will have the voltage and Micro-farads rating. MFD --- @ volts --- . Once you have that information you should be able to get the capacitor either locally or from Sears. If you would send me that information off the side of the capacitor I will be happy to help you with the capacitor. Sam A.
