A:

Replacing a part on an ice dispenser can be pretty difficult without the proper instructions. I did some research based on the part number & included the link below. Hope this helps!

Yadira-thanks for the help. In this model, the motor drops down after the 4 screws are removed, but there is not enough clearance for it to pass by the rubber grommet where the connection wires stick out. Any ideas on this?

Hi,

Thank you for asking this question and allow me to answer it this way.

Ok, starting from the beginning, unplug the refrigerator and remove the ice bucket. Remove the two screws holding the coupler and shaft.
Now pull the shaft out from the top. On the inside of the door below the bulge for the motor, is there two screws holding a panel on? If so remove the panel and there is the motor. The motor will be removed through the opening after disconnecting the connector to the motor and it is going to be a tight fit to get it out of the hole. The liner has cut many of a technician getting the motor out.

I hope this answer is useful and that it helps you correct the problem with your appliance.
Thank you for using ManageMyLife.

Hi,

Thank you for your question. It is concerning when the refrigerator is not functioning correctly.

It does sound like the fill line is freezing, but I would like a model number to see if there is a faulty fill heater or do you have a bad thermostat in the icemaker.

Please reply to the thread below and I will gladly assist you.

Uzma, Your unit does not have a fill heater installed so interior temp could freeze the inlet. I will give you a part number for a modified fill tube insert to help the fill tube. Sometimes the end of the fill tub gets a rough edge on it and being made of plastic, water will bead up and this is what freezer and clogs up the fill tube.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. Based on the information given, I suspect the water valve has failed. The optic board is flashing normally and the freezer temperature is good. Since the icemaker was just replaced, the water valve will be the most likely reason you are having this problem. However, I recommend making the following check to determine for sure.

First disconnect power to the refrigerator. Slide the icemaker out, so the front cover can be removed. You will now see the test terminals, which are marked (see picture). Now remove the 3 screws holding the receiver board on the right side and disconnect the harness from the board. Place a jumper between the black and black/white wires (see picture). Now use a second jumper and place it between the L V terminals on the module. Reconnect the power and with both jumpers in place, water should now flow to the icemaker (be prepared to catch water from the fill tube). If water does flow, it indicates a failed icemaker. Since this is a new icemaker and by making this test (by-passing the boards) I would suspect the boards # 4389102 may not be working. If no water flows but you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # 4389177 will need to be replaced. If nothing at all happens, some voltage checks will need to be made.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem or doing any voltage checks yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you need more assistance additional details will be needed.

Safety Notice: Be sure to disconnect the appliance before performing any troubleshooting procedures. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks or repairs that might be recommended, please contact a local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
