Thanks you for contacting Manage My Life about your refrigerator not making ice, sorry to hear you are experiencing this problem.
Ice makers are very temperature sensitive and require that a temperature of 0 to 5 degrees be maintained before they will cycle.
I have added an image below that will guide you through testing the ice maker module, with this you can determine the cause of the failure.

If you need additional assistance please reply with added details and I will be happy to respond.

Q:

Why does the compressor only run for 8 seconds?

A:

As stated previously: When the compressor shuts off this soon and then attempts to restart again, the overload (safety device) is opening and shutting the compressor down. There can be a few reasons why the compressor is short cycling like this.

  • Weak windings in the compressor
  • The compressor could be locked (stuck)
  • Weak start device (relay/overload)
  • Failed capacitor
A technician will be required to make these checks.
