Q:

frig not cooling 10659562990 Kenmore Side by side refrigerator

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Sorry to hear of the warming Kenmore refrigerator, I know how concerning that is to have occur.
The freezer thawing could be caused by a few things, and since the refrigerator derives it's chilled air from the freezer, it would be natural for it to raise in temp if the freezer's temp is rising.
Since the freezer is not cooling, that is where we should look for the issue. There are no circuit boards on the unit, as it is a mechanical setup. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and see if the compressor is running and the condenser coils on the back are warm. If the compressor is not running the problem might be the defrost timer or the thermostat. There is also a start relay on the side of the compressor that helps it to start up. Sometimes tapping that part can help the compressor come on if it's weak and on the way out.
If the compressor is running and there is no cooling from the fan, you have a sealed refrigeration problem.
If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate  your business.

An ice maker is an important feature on a refrigerator, when it stops working it can be frustrating. I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your ice maker. A few things need to be correct before the icemaker will make ice. The freezer needs to be cold enough to make ice. For the icemaker to fill with water, the bale arm switch needs to be working.

NOTE: You should only check that live voltage if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely measure it. Wear proper safety equipment (electrical safety gloves and safety goggles) when checking that live voltage.

The power to the refrigerator needs to be disconnected to remove the icemaker cover
After removing the cover, reconnect the refrigerator to the power outlet.
Using the multimeter, check the power from L to N.
The meter should read 120 volts AC.
This is the power to the icemaker.
Make a 14 gage Insulated wire jumper, with only the very ends trimmed off
The power to the refrigerator needs to be disconnected and place the jumper from T to H and reconnect the cord to the power outlet.

After about 5 to 6 seconds the ejectors on the icemaker should start to turn and the insulated jumper can be carefully pulled from the terminal holes. If the icemaker moves it should fill with water and you would need to purchase parts for the icemaker, the thermostat. If the icemaker ejectors do not move replace the icemaker.  If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, just click on this link to schedule service:  Sears Home Services

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
