Q:

Ice maker leaks water 10659207990 Kenmore Side-by-side refrigerator

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your refrigerator and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 10659207990 and yes from your description I would suspect that water valve feeding the ice maker is not completely shutting off. The inlet water valve has solenoids that when energized open and close. If the valve is not closing completely it will allow a small amount of water to trickle into the ice maker and causing to overfill. Here is a link that may help with testing the valve. I have included a link to our Parts Direct page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Q:

I have a Kenmore Refrigerator Model #10659207990. It is not dispensing ice, yet it still makes ice. I emptied the basket of all ice. Could this be a micro switch issue?

A:

Just when the it's getting hot outside and time for cold drinks with ice, your ice dispenser decides to go out on the blink. The experts are here to help. The link I am attaching is on a similar issue with the dispenser on another refrigerator. Hope this helps while an expert responds.

A:

I solved the problem myself, based on reading the blog of possible issues. Once I opened the front panel I was prepared to try jumping the micro switch. But in reality I first tried just pushing the contact button - and ICE came out. Therefore all I need is a new control bracket. The one have a a broken piece of plastic that normally holds the micro switch in place so that it makes contact when you push the ice dispenser lever ! Genius!
