Q:

My ice maker stops mid cycle when ejecting ice cubes. It is a Kenmore model 106.59092990. What causes this?

A:

The gears inside the motor for the icemaker are worn and slipping. When you help it past the worn area, it runs again. The motor on the icemaker will have to be replaced.

The part number for the icemaker motor is W10190935 and the cost is around $85.00. You can buy a complete icemaker by ordering 4317943. The cost is around $120.00. You can buy a rebuilt icemaker with the same warranty as a new one by ordering 4317943R. The cost is around $110.00.

Replacing the motor is a fairly good job and you still have old parts in the icemaker to fail. I recommend you replace the icemaker with a new one.
