Q:

The black rubber nozel on the end of the clear plastic water fill tube that fills the ice maker, has a split in it. Water sprays all over. How do I fix?

A:

I know how important it is to have a good working ice maker in the home so that you can enjoy some ice cold beverages. While you are waiting for your expert response I did manage to find a link that describes a similar problem to the one your ice maker is having. I hope this helps.

Here's what we did to fix this. After several days and several posts to try to get help with this, I now have help for all you experts. So all you experts out there can tell the next person who needs to know how to fix this problem. It's as easy as ever and you don't need to call a repair guy. First we disconnected the water fill tube from the bottom back of the fridge. Remove the cardboard cover and gently but firmly pull the clear tube out while pulling up on the collar part. The tube will come out. Next pull the black rubber nozel out from inside, just a little. We cut the black rubber part completely off. Then we taped the two clear plastic tubing hoses together with electrical tape. Then with one person in the back and one in the front we just pulled the hoses out to the back. We then fit the black rubber nozel into the slot to fill the ice tray, cut the tape from the two tubes connected together. Hooked the new clear plastic tube back into the valve in the back. Put the cardboard cover back on. Turned the water back on and plugged the fridge in. Wowzie! There you have it. It took all of about 30 minutes total. Can't hardly believe that no experts could give me a detailed description like that to help me out.

That water valve is at the bottom rear portion of the refrigerator. It is behind the cardboard access panel on the bottom of the outer back wall of the refrigerator. Here is a brief repair video that shows how to access (and replace) the water valve assembly: Replacing the Water Inlet Valve Assembly . Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before accessing internal refrigerator components. This information should help you access that end of the water fill tube on this type of refrigerator.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.
