Q:

The ice dispenser on the door of my refrig only does crushed ice no longes dispenses cubed ice.

A:

Refrigerators have many great features. One of the most used is probably the ice dispenser and the ice most needed is cubed. While you wait for the expert to answer, you can check a previous expert post that may offer some help. Bear in mind the model number does not match yours. I attached the link below. If you do decide you prefer to have an experienced technician diagnose and make repairs, an option is to visit Sears Home Services and use the handy scheduler.

I know it's frustrating when the dispenser does not work properly. The information you have received is good but does not pertain to this model. If the motor does not run at all when cubed ice is selected, I suspect the control board has failed. This model has 2 boards. If the display does show that you have selected cube ice but nothing happens, the bracket control # W10184878 inside the dispenser will need to be replaced. I'm attaching a picture with instructions to access the dispenser. Be sure to disconnect the power first. If the display does not show cube ice has been selected, the front dispenser control will need to be replaced. The part number will vary depending on the color. It is possible the motor could be defective but not likely, since it does run in the crushed mode. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
