Thanks Scott! I'm confident in my repair skills, but not confident about getting the cover off without damage - this is just what I was looking for - THANK YOU! As for the "air pot" - mine looks similar, but not the same. The thin black arm with the hole in it for the door support to fit through is longer and moves, the bottom is different too. But, I would think that after I get the cover off I can figure it out. Is it pretty straight forward after that? With a newish (2 years old and rarely used) Elite I didn't think I'd have problems with the flapper so quickly and hope when I put it all together I'll find out why it was held a little open in the first place. Do you have any ideas or what I should be looking for? I was always "daddy's" right hand girl and he taught me a lot growing up. If I can't fix it, it's back to taping it up so air doesn't leak out and call in the "big Boys". Again, Scott - thank you and I hope it works!

Youre welcome. It's possible that the mechanism itself may need to be replaced. It may be keeping the door from closing. If the door is still not working after you get it back together, if you could send a picture, it would help in determining, what would need to be done.

I'll do that (picture). The unit is at another property and as soon as I get down there (which may not be for a couple weeks).

YAHOO...Scott! It took me a little longer than I thought, but it's all fixed. What was keeping the flapper open in the first place was that #8 part. It was too snug in the chute it went in and did not slide properly. Without it the flapper closed and opened with no trouble - so I just took it off and stored it away, just in case I needed it down the road. Thanks so much for all your help!
