Question and Answers

Q:

Which parts to replace and how on this dispenser for a water leak?

A:

For a constant drip the water valve # 4389177 will need to be replaced. This valve is located behind the refrigerator. Before replacing this valve be sure to disconnect the power from the unit and shut the water supply valve off. If this is an occasional drip, it indicates there is air in the line. For this type of drip use check valve # 2314271. This is a fitting that will connect to the water line under the freezer door. These parts are available at www.searspartsdirect.com . If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the water dispenser stops working. This could be a problem with the water valve but a lot of times the problem is in the dispenser with the switch. A good check will be to, press the lever in slowly and listen for a clicking sound. If you do not hear this sound, it indicates that either the switch has failed or the actuator is not making contact with it. The switch and actuator can be checked by removing the front cover (see image). Be sure to disconnect the power first. If you do hear a clicking sound and if you can also hear a humming sound from the back of the cabinet, it will indicate the water valve is being energized. This will usually mean the water valve # W10408179 is not opening and will need to be replaced. Its located behind the cabinet. Remove the back panel cover and you will be able to see and access the valve. The water supply line will connect to the valve. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will assist you further.

I understand your concern about this filter. The filter has been redesigned to give it more strength. However, now it can be more difficult to get in the housing all the way and turn it. Make sure it's pushed in all the way. It can be tight but it will fit and turn. More pressure may be needed. I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
