It sounds like you might have a problem with the coupler that drives the auger in the ice bin.

If you want to try to repair the refrigerator yourself, go to [www.partsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch]. Enter the model of the refrigerator in the search field and select the "motor and ice container parts" page. The drive coupler is item 25.

You can find the model number inside the refrigerator compartment on a tag on the wall or the ceiling.

You can also go to http://services.sears.com/shs/category/repair?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch and get a Sears technician to repair the refrigerator.

If you have more questions reply on this link and include the model of the refrigerator. We can give more in depth answers with a model number.

Unfortunately, without a model number, I will not be able to provide any specific information. However, based on the information listed, it would appear this model has the ice bucket inside the freezer. If you do hear the auger motor running, when the lever is pressed and nothing is coming out, it could be a problem with the crusher mechanism or maybe the chute door is not opening. Check the chute door and if it does not open, it may be a solenoid problem or the door could be stuck. If it does open, the crusher mechanism may be jammed. In this case, you can take the ice bucket out and run some hot water through the mechanism, to make sure there is no ice build up, inside of it. For more assistance, a complete model number will be needed and any additional details will be helpful. If you would like to have a technician check this, you can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a call.

Thank you. The model number is : 106.57793700; SN ST4231578. We had the ice bucket totally dried out, so I'm not sure if ice build up is the answer. I will double check that just in case. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for the model number. This model has the advanced dispenser system. If the auger motor is running but nothing is coming out, the problem could be with the auger motor itself or the drive shaft. This can be a complicated system to check and may require a technician. You can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful.

Here is some additional info - when you press for ice, either cubed or crushed, it makes a sound of trying to dispense for approx 3 - 5 seconds; then no sound or ice dispensed; it takes a few seconds for it to seemingly reset and makes the sound again with nothing happening.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. This now sounds like it may be a weak motor but some voltage checks will need to be made. These checks will require a meter that reads both ac and dc voltage. This can be a difficult dispenser to check. Unless you feel confident in your repair skills and making voltage checks, I recommend having a technician check this dispenser. You can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

I'm attaching pictures and instructions to access this dispenser. First disconnect power to the refrigerator. When you can see the board inside the dispenser place your meter leads in the terminals of the br/wh and rd/wh wires. Do not disconnect any wires or connections. Reconnect power to the unit and press the actuator. Set the ice for either cube or crushed and the meter should read either plus or minus 120 vdc. Now change the selection to the opposite of what was just checked. If it was on crushed change to cubes. Press the actuator and the reading should change also. If it read minus 120vdc it should now read plus 120 vdc. If you do get these readings, it will indicate the auger motor # 2252130 is defective. If you don't get these readings, the core board # 2303843 will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. Since the motor does run and quits, I suspect the motor will most likely be the problem. I hope this will help you.
