Kenmore Elite Refrigerator -- Ice isn't dropping

A:

Warm drinks because there is no ice might start a mutiny. The expert will review this to help within two days, possibly sooner. I did locate a similar question that may provide some help. I attached below along with the link to Sears Home Services if a technician is needed.

Thanks Barbara. I think that link is describing a different problem. It sounds like in that situation the ice maker isn't producing cubes more than once a week or so. In my case, there are plenty of ice cubes, but for whatever reason the flap at the end of the chute is not opening to allow the ice cubes into the glass. Hopefully one of the experts will have some advice.

I can understand your concern about the motor for your ice maker. I am happy to help. If the auger motor is running but the door chute will not open, you manually open the door/flap, it may be a problem with the door motor or the core board. Since you have already determined the flap/chute is not opening, I'm attaching a picture with instructions to access this dispenser and check the door motor. Just click on the image below to view. Be sure to disconnect the power to the unit first. When you gain access to the core board, remove the connector on the P5 connection and check the resistance of the motor connector pins as listed. If you do not get the reading listed, the door motor part number w10184813 will need to be replaced. If the checks are ok, the core board part number 2303843 will need to be replaced. Parts can be purchased through this direct link, Sears PartsDirect .

I hope this proves useful but if you need further assistance please feel free to reply back to this thread below. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then I recommend scheduling for a service appointment. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services . Thank you for using Manage My Life

Thank you for replying Scott. The image I provided is small when you first open it (first click of your mouse). Move the cursor over the picture and click on it again. It will enlarge that second time. If you are still having issues with this or need further assistance please let me know. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
