Q:

Why won't the ice dispense?

A:

The dispenser may not be dispensing ice for various reasons. It could be due to:

  1. Defective auger motor
  2. Control panel
  3. Control board
  4. Actuator switch
Unfortunately without a model number I can't access any information about your refrigerator. Does your refrigerator have electronic or mechanical controls? For more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details and a complete model number.

I have a model 106.57719700 which does make the ice and dispense water but the ice will NOT drop even though the auger turns. I open the door, press the light button and press the dispenser button. The auger turns but no ice drops.

Hello Karla. I recommend that you pull that ice bucket out of the door and check that ice chute below the bucket for a clog. If you find no clog, then you can use the troubleshooting information in the link below to help you diagnose and repair that failure. If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician examine the refrigerator and repair that failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Service . Hello Carib909. I apologize that we have not responded previously. Here are some tips that may help you with that problem: Pull the ice bucket out of the door and check the ice chute for a clog of ice or build-up that could be blocking that area. I suspect that you may have already checked that issue. Also, make sure that the ice door is opening properly on the front of the dispenser. You may need to defrost and clear that ice bucket out by running warm water through it and then letting it air dry completely. Place the ice bucket back in the door and see if it works properly. If those tips do not help, then you may have a problem with the linkage between the motor and the bucket. The first image below shows the theory of operation for that ice bucket auger motor assembly. The second image shows the location of the components. The next images show how to access the components. I recommend that you unplug the refrigerator and access those components to check them for any problems. If you find a broken component and need to order parts, you can visit this page: Kenmore Refrigerator 106.57719700 Parts . These tips may help you solve that dispensing problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Hello Bill. I suspect that the model number that you submitted is slightly off. It should probably be 795.77563600. On that refrigerator, you could have a loose wiring connection or a mechanical failure in that ice door mechanism. I posted an image below that shows how to access the control boards and the components in that system. You can UNPLUG the refrigerator and access those components to check for loose wire connections or apparent mechanical problems. If you need parts, you can order them from this page: Kenmore Refrigerator Model 795.77563600 Repair Parts . If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your ice dispenser. Since you are not seeing a clog or blockage in the chute, you will need to do more extensive testing. This link, my in-door dispenser does water, but no longer dispenses ice , will provide that troubleshooting. This include images on how to access the parts. It is for a different model but the troubleshooting is the same. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
