Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Elite Coldspot Side by Side is not dispensing ice

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating to have your ice dispenser stop working properly. I have found a link that may provide some useful information on the issue. I would suggest that you try defrosting the bucket. This is to make sure that there is no ice build up prevent the flap from opening. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the ice dispenser stops working. This model has the advanced dispenser, which is more complex and difficult to check. I would recommend having a technician check this dispenser. The dispenser door on this model has a motor that opens and closes it and is controlled by a board inside of the dispenser. If you feel confident in your repair skills and have a meter that reads both ac and dc voltages and resistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I'm attaching some pictures with instructions of how to access this dispenser and the chute door motor. Be sure to disconnect power to the unit first. The second picture shows how to check the motor. If you do not get the resistance reading listed, the motor will need to be replaced. If the resistance does check ok, the most likely problem will be a defective core board. I hope this helps you. If you would like more assistance, I will be glad to assist you further.
