Question and Answers

Q:

no water going to ice maker 10657075791 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore refrigerator.

From the information you have provided above, I can understand the frustration of having your refrigerator malfunction, after researching model number 106.57075791. it seems to me like the water valve located in the back of the unit is damaged. The valve may not be opening correctly not allowing the water to reach the ice maker. The part number for the valve is 2188542. I would also check the water line that runs off the valve to make sure its not frozen or clogged.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

Thanks Priscilla. I also researched this issue before I posted, but since I was not able to find a thread with the exact model number, I didn't feel confident that I would have the correct capacity. Do you know if the model you are referencing is comparable?

Thank you for your question on the cubic foot size of your refrigerator/freezer combination.

This refrigerator is a 20 cubic foot Side by Side refrigerator/freezer.

Most side by sides split the compartments by 2/3's for the refrigerator side to 1/3 for the freezer side.

This being a 20 cubic foot unit, it would relate to approximately a 15 cubic foot fresh food side and 5 cubic foot freezer.

I this was of some help to you.

Sam A.

The link for a previous answer provided by James R. in the above response gives you some troubleshooting tips for a refrigerator that has a filter. I am showing that your model does not have a filter. If you suspect that the fill line that goes through the freezer door is frozen, you can use the troubleshooting described in that previous answer.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Check the ice maker to see if the ice mold is filling with water. You indicated that the ice dispenser is working. Make sure that the ice maker in the freezer is filling properly. If not, I recommend that you check the water supply going to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure that the water supply cut-off valve is fully open. Cycle the cut-off valve shut and then back open. See if you get any water flow after cycling the cut-off valve. If not, shut the water supply cut-off valve and disconnect the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Place the end of the supply line in a bucket and briefly open the water supply cut-off valve to check the flow and water pressure from the end of the supply line. If you have a problem with the water supply, then you will probably need to have a plumber fix this problem.

  • If the ice maker is filling, then you could have a problem with the switch in the dispenser or the inlet water valve assembly. Push the paddle in on the freezer door and see if you hear the solenoid water valve on the back of the refrigerator buzzing. If you do not hear the fill valve working, then I recommend that you unplug the refrigerator and check the switch in the dispenser. Here is a link for a previous answer that shows how to access components in the dispenser: How do I replace the ice dispenser switch in the door on refrigerator model 106.57287791? If the switch is okay, then you may need to replace the water valve assembly.

  • If you do hear the water valve buzzing, then you could have a clog in the water line or you may still have a bad water valve. Check the temperature in the refrigerator. If you have items that are freezing in the refrigerator, then you could have frozen water lines going to and/or coming out of the water tank reservoir in the back bottom portion of the refrigerator. Check those water lines. If you find not restrictions in the water lines, then you may need to replace the inlet water valve assembly.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

These tips may help you resolve this water dispenser problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
