Hi,

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance not working.

The possible problems are the fill valve is not operational, the freezer temperature is too warm, the internal thermostat is faulty or the ice harvest motor is not getting power.   I will provide you with some test to check the icemaker out for a faulty thermostat.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Q:

How can I replace the two slide out shelves in my Kenmore side-by-side with fixed shelves?

A:

You could order 2 of the shelves (Key 18 in the image below) that hold the snack bin. The part number is 2206370. This type of shelf will have the molding to house the drawer underneath but it is a stationary shelf instead of a sliding one. These shelves are expensive. The cost about $64 apiece. You may consider using silicone glue or super glue to permanently glue your sliding shelves in place instead of replacing them. If you want to try this approach, remove the sliding shelves from the refrigerator and place a small amount of glue on the back part of the shelf and in various spots along the shelf to glue it into place. Let the glue dry and set and then put the shelf back into the refrigerator. This approach would be much less expensive than buying two of the $64 shelves.

Q:

How do I get the refrigerator filter to go all the way in? It is very hard to push. It is Kenmore model 106.57074602. The filter is a PUR Ultimate 11.

A:

Remove the filter from the housing and look at the rear of the filter housing to see if there is and debris inside the housing. Clean the housing with a soft cloth.

At the small end of the filter coat the part that sticks out with a light coat of silicone grease.

Push the filter into the housing and turn the filter as you push it into the rear of the housing. If this doesn't work you need a technician to install the filter.
