I'm sorry you are having this problem. This type of problem could be due to a defective switch inside the dispenser or the water valve may have failed. When you press in on the water actuator, if you hear a humming noise, it indicates, the water valve is getting energized. Usually, replacing the water valve # 2188542 in this case will solve the problem. The water valve is located in back of the unit, behind the panel cover. It's also possible the reservoir may be frozen. You can pull the crispers out to access, the reservoir. If it is frozen, you can use a hair dryer to help thaw it. Be careful not to get it too hot. It will usually only be frozen on the top. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, please reply with additional details. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I understand your frustration when the dispenser stops working. I hope you were able to check some of the information that was given to you. When the lever is pressed, if there is no sound, the water valve will need to be checked. A good way to check it will be to, reverse the wires on the valve. First disconnect power to the refrigerator. There will be 2 solenoids on the valve. Move the purple and white wire to the solenoid that has the tan and white wires. Now reconnect power and press the dispenser actuator. If water comes out now, at the icemaker, the water valve # 2188542 will need to be replaced. If no water comes out, some voltage checks will need to be made. This will require the use of a meter. You can check the wires under the top door hinge, to see if there is a burnt wire or loose connection. Be sure to disconnect power first. If these wires are ok, some voltage checks will need to be made. Making voltage checks can be dangerous and I recommend having a technician make these checks. If you would like more assistance, additional details will be helpful.

Apparently it seems you are referring to the front dispenser cover. Yes, it can only be gotten as a complete assembly. I'm attaching a picture with instructions, to remove the cover. First disconnect power to the unit. There are no other instructions to replace the front cover. When you get it loose, just disconnect the wire harness and reconnect it on the new cover and snap the cover back in place. I hope this will help you.
