Q:

How to reassemble the ice dispenser on my refrigerator that the spring fell out of.

A:

The ice maker is a great feature of the refrigerator. The problem with the spring falling out can be frustrating. I did some research on your model number but was not able to find a solution. Your expert will be able to help answer your question. It may take two business days for your expert to reply. I do hope that everything works out.

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your refrigerator. I'm sending you a picture with instructions for removing the front dispenser panel. On the cover is off you can then see the dispenser door. The pin and spring hold this part together, so you will need to reinsert them. The second image will show how the spring should go on. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Dear AnneJ, Thanks for the excellent advice on reinstalling the spring on my icemaker. I used the 2 diagrams and was well on my way to getting the whole thing put back together when I determined that the little plastic ear that the crosspiece mounts behind was broken when it came off in my hand. I think that's what originally caused the problem with the spring falling out, because I wasn't forcing anything. Here's my question: What would you recommend as the best glue to reattach it? As you probably know, it's white plastic and I want to use the right product one time to get it right and end this problem permanently. Please provide brand name and exact product you'd recommend since there are so many of these epoxy/super glue products on the market.

The epoxy that I use the most is Loctite. There are several different types and they make one just for plastic parts. This is what I would recommend that you use, and you can purchase it at any hardware store. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hi AnneJ. I don't know if this thread is still active, but I have the same problem with the spring. I tried to view the images you included in your response, but when I copied them to my computer, they came out too small to read/see. When I zoomed in, they became pixelated and blurred. Can I find those images somewhere online? Thanks!

Q:

Ice maker inop 10657022601 Kenmore Side by side refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model 10657022601; the tube would need to be removed from the back of the unit. You could run warm to hot water over the tube or use a blow dryer. Let the tube dry if you run water over it as it can freeze the tubing.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.
