A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with parts on the ice maker.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Refrigerator model number 10656704500.

On replacing the motor of the ice maker.   I have a picture below.   You need to slide a thin straight screw driver between number 18 the cover and the frame where the gear is attached on key number 35.   Just need to be careful and gently pry it open.

You don't mention if you have tried to adjust the temperatures. The food in the crisper drawer should not freeze but there are some variables to consider.

First I suggest you bump the refrigerator temperature up to 38 or 39 degrees. Give it 24 hours to change.

You might pick up a refrigerator thermometer and monitor the temperature in the crisper drawers.

The most likely problem is a thermistor that is out of range but you can adjust the controls till things are okay. Give any adjustment 24 hours to show a change. It will take a few days but the problem can be solved. I'd be surprised if you actually need a new thermistor.

Make sure the "SmartSense" is okay. The light should be on.

Cold air will settle to the bottom and a lot depends on how often the door are opened.

Try the adjustments first and reply with any additional details for further assistance.
