Question and Answers

Q:

Ice maker fails to fill with water 10656684501 Kenmore Elite Side by side refrigerator

A:

Icemaker test points:

L – N - power to im module- line voltage 115 vac± 11.5vac
T – H - mold thermostat- 0vac <15°F, 115vac above 15°F and shutoff arm down
H – L - mold heater- line voltage during harvest with thermostat closed
M – L - module motor- line voltage3 during harves or closed thermostat and arm down
V – N- water valve- approx. 103 vac during fill

Jumper points: Use 14 gauge solid copper insulated wire
H – T - mold thermostat by passed-  initiates harvest
H – V - water valve energized- simulates voltage supplied to water valve during operation.

Initiate a harvest
1. Disconnect the power supply to the refrigerator.
2. Open the freezer door and slide the ice maker out, remove cover.
3. Jump "H" & "T" to bypass the IM thermostat if not cold enough
4. Connect the power supply.
5. Close the freezer door and a harvest cycle will begin in 5 seconds.
6. Open the freezer door and observe the ice maker.
7. If "H" to "T" is properly jumped and the ice maker won't run stop the test and check the ice maker.
8. Remove the jumper before the finger reaches 10:00. Reinstall the ice maker
9. In order to reset the control board, immediately disconnect power after the water fill.
10. With the freezer door closed, reconnect the power supply.

If this does not work then you will need to replace the icemaker.

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your refrigerator. On this model the filter is located inside the bottom grill.  To insert a new one, you will need to remove the caps on the new filter and push it into the slots.  It should fit easily into the housing, but it could be off center.  Just rotate the filter around until the prongs fit into the unit.  From there just push it in (you may need to use a little bit of force on it). Then turn the filter clockwise to lock it into place.  If the filter pops out, then it is not fully seated into the housing. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I know how important it is to have a good working ice and water dispenser in the home so that you can enjoy a nice cup of purified water. Replacing some parts can sometimes be a challenge. The information you have received from Joseph is good but it pertains to a different model. To replace the dispenser board will require replacing the complete front cover assembly (# 23 in picture). The board is not a separate part. To replace the cover, remove the bottom tray (# 9) and you will see 2 screws. Remove these screws and then pry the bottom of the cover out and lift it upward to remove it. Now you can disconnect the wires and reverse the procedure to replace the cover. Be sure to disconnect power from the refrigerator first. The part number for the front cover will depend on the color.

  1. 2315089W = White
  2. 2315089T = Bisque
  3. 2315089B = Black
  4. 2315089J = Graphite
I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thanks Joseph and Scott. I had a repair call to my home and the determination was the door dispenser control board, a green circuit board was required. The circuit board, as I understand, controls what happens when the buttons on the key pad are pushed, i.e crushed or cubed ice. The part I need is the actual circuit board but I do not see it listed in the parts blowup. Any ideas?
