The door flap that opens to allow ice through when a glass is placed in the door opening has come disconnected. I want to confirm the outside frame snaps off, exposing the screws to access inside the door ice making mechanism. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

Q:

refrig light bulb 10656622500 Kenmore Sxs

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com. I am sorry to hear about the broken bulbs in the sockets, I know how frustrating that is.

I would recommend using the tried and true method on removing the broken bulb from the socket, the raw potatoe method.

To do this, you will want to turn off power to the refrigerator. Cut a small to medium potatoe in half, and with the raw inside section of a half, push the potatoe firmly onto the broken section of the bulb so that it grabs hold of it. Once the potatoe is in position, you will want to twist it left or counter-clockwise firmly to unthread the broken bulb from the socket. That should get the broken bulb out in a jiffy.

I have used this method myself many times and it works like a charm. I'm sure you could get a pair of needle nose pliers and try to grab it and unthread it, but you do run the risk of damaging the socket. Whereas with the potatoe, the glass shards will protrude into the potatoe half and it will have a better hold and will be much easier.

Hopefully this will help with getting the broken bulb out seamlessly, just don't forget to turn off power or unplug the refrigerator before hand.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to respond. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
