Q:

ice maker problem 10656586501 Kenmore Side by side refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your icemaker is not working properly.

First make sure the shut off arm is in the on position.

1. Check the temperature of the freezer becasue if it is fewer than 17 degrees F it wont make ice.

2.Check if your water fill spout is plugged with ice, if it is then it wont make ice.
3. Check to see if water is getting to the water inlet valve.
4.Use an OHM meter to check the continuity of the water inlet valve. If it does not have any continuity then you need to replace your water valve. If it does then the icemaker itself is the problem and may need to be replaced.

Thank you for the reply. Here are the new issues I have encountered since removing and unplugging the ice unit. Yes for #2 the spout keeps getting plugged, the water is frozen from the bucket to the top inlet but I can't see any area that will cause the water from going into the ice mold area??? The unit does make a complete cycle once and the teeth stop at around 2 o clock and looks like waits for water to fill but its frozen??? Can the main problem be that my friend didn't remove the plastic packing cover on the unit but had the arm in the make ice position all this time.??? I know it made ice once at least cause I heard it drop but looks like the ice was very very small if any but when I checked the water sprout area was totally frozen??? Sounds like its in the wrong cycle. Help

Q:

Cubic feet of my refrigerator?

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when needing the cubic feet of your Refrigerator. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found that your unit is 25 cubic feet. The cubic feet and dimensions should be listed on an industrial sticker near the model number. Another way to find the cubic feet is to take the 3rd number after the decimal and add a 2 in front of it which will make it 25 cubic feet. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Q:

Refrigerator temperature control light & light bulb out?

A:

Thank you for including your model number. There is a reset technique that is explained in the link I've provided below. Your unit is cooling and that is great. The light issue may be of a minor consequence. You did not mention the units approximate age or if you could hear the compressor fan running... If the unit is older, lights will fail and we can give you instruction on how to replace them if that is an option for you. You will be hearing from our expert team in a day or two. Have a good morning.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the lights. This unit has mechanical controls, so if the unit is still cooling ok, only the lights will probably need to be replaced. The indicator light is # 2213462 and the light bulb is # 8009. Both parts are available at http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-10656586501/0582/0165000?pathTaken=&prst=0&shdMod=10656586501&sid=MMLxexpertxmerch . If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.
