Question and Answers

Q:

Freezer Cold / Refrigerator is COOL not cold 106.56563400

A:

When I changed the Defrost thermostat, the coils were covered with ice but quickly defrosted after the installation. Refrigerator was then cold for several hours but got warmer agin. While the air difusser shutters are open, I don't feel much air coming through. The air flow was stronger right after I replaced the defrost thermostat

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 106.56563400. From reviewing the details on your model, I recommend checking the temperature in your refrigerator and freezer compartments. To accurately measure the temperature in the refrigerator, place a thermometer in a glass of water and place in the center of a middle shelf in the fresh food compartment. Look at the temperature measured after 8 hours. In the freezer, place a thermometer in between packages of frozen vegetables and look at it after 8 hours. The refrigerator section should be around 37 degrees F. The freezer should be around 0 degrees F. If they are close to these temperatures, you may try going back to the middle settings on the refrigerator and freezer. Allow 24 hours for the temperatures to equalize and then adjust the settings one increment at a time allowing 24 hours between adjustment to achieve the proper freezer and refrigerator temperatures.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

Q:

Model 10656563400 . No water is being dipensed into ice tray. 10656563400 Kenmore Refrigerator sxs

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 106.56563400. From reviewing the details on your model, since the water dispenser is working, your symptoms point to a failure in the dual water valve, the wiring or the ice maker module. If you are able to safely check the voltage at the water valve, you can manually cycle the ice maker module and see if the valve is getting voltage. If it is, then the valve will apparently need to be replaced. If the valve is not getting voltage, then you will need to check the wiring and the module. NOTE: You should not perform this live voltage check unless you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely execute it. These tips should help you determine the cause of this failure

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.
