Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore refrigerator.

From the information you have provided above, I can understand the frustration of having your refrigerator malfunction, after researching model number 106.56542400. the issue seems to be in the water valve. the valve seems to be staying shut not allowing the water to flow to the ice maker and make it to the filter. The part number for the valve is W10408179.

Q:

frig runs all the time I cant find the defrost timer to test it. the thermastat is fine as is the defrost heater coil is fine . 10656542400 Kenmore Refrigerator, sxs

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model number 10656542400; this unit uses an electronic control board to control the defrost cycle. The thermostat needs to have a certain amount of resistance at a certain temperature. The thermostat will signal that it has reached its temperature. The control board will then signal the compressor to shut off. The control board could be failing and not sending the signal. Electronic boards are sensitive and can be damaged by static electricity. I recommend calling our repair department to test the board.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.
