Question and Answers

Q:

my fan or compressor runs constantly in freezer 10656232400 Kenmore Refrigerator, sxs

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Kenmore refrigerator. I am so sorry you are having a problem with it. The compressor or fan running constantly will not only drive up your electric bill, but will also cause the refrigerator to fail prematurely. I will be happy to helpy you with this.

The most likely reason your freezer is very cold and the compressor is constantly running is you have the temperature control set too low. The factory settings for both the refrigerator and freezer sections are 4. They should only be adjusted if the unit isn't cool enough or is getting too cold. To keep food properly cooled in the freezer section, the temperature should be between -5 degrees to +5 degrees Fahrenheit. Keeping the freezer any colder than that overworks the compressor.

The owner's manual for your model is not online, but I located a similar model that uses the same digital control setup. I have included the link for you to view that manual online.

The instructions for resetting the controls is on page 10. Keep in mind that it will take about 24 hours for the freezer to adjust to the new setting. It may take a couple of trys until you get it to the right range where it is keeping the food frozen without keeping it colder than it needs to be.

I hope this answers your question. If you need further assistance, please resubmit your question with additional details. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.
