Question and Answers

How to gain access to the old motor, to replace it.

It appears you're referring to the auger motor. This motor is located inside the bubble of the freezer door (see attached picture). To access the motor, first disconnect power to the unit. Now open the freezer door and under the bottom of the door panel bubble, will be an access cover. Remove the 2 screws holding the cover, remove the cover and you will see the motor (see picture). Remove the 4 screws holding the motor in place and it will now drop down. You can disconnect the wire harness connector and remove the old motor and install the new motor. Now it's also possible that the motor is not the problem. It could be the board, is not sending power to the motor. If the new motor still does not run, the board will need to be checked. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.

Safety Notice: Be sure to disconnect the appliance before performing any troubleshooting procedures. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks or repairs that might be recommended, please contact a local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
