Question and Answers

Q:

What's wrong with my icemaker?

A:

If the icemaker is not cycling, there are some test terminals on the module, which may help determine the problem. To access the module, pull the front cover off of the icemaker (see picture). With the cover off, you will now see the module and the terminals will be marked (see picture). Now use a well insulated jumper and place it between the L - V terminals. Be careful this is a hot (live) check. With the jumper in place, water should now flow to the icemaker. If water does flow, the icemaker # 2212352 will need to be replaced. If no water flows but you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # 4389178 will need to be replaced. Both of these parts are available at SearsPartsDirect . If nothing at all happens, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed for this. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.

Q:

Replace refrigerator water filter

A:

I know how important it is to replace the water filter when needed on the refrigerator to enjoy some purified water. I did some research and I was able to find the owners manual for your refrigerator. You can find filter replacement information on pages 12 and 13 of the owners manual. I am also adding a second link in where you enter the model number and a parts list diagram will pop up in where you can order a new water filter. I hope this helps with the filter project while you wait for your expert response.

Open the freezer door and check to make sure that the switch for the ice maker on the right wall of the freezer is turned ON. You should see a red LED light blinking twice, pausing and repeating. If that light is not blinking, then the emitter and receiver level sensing control boards will need to be replaced (kit part 4389102). The procedure for replacing these boards is provided in the first image below. Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components.

If the red LED light is blinking as described above, close the flapper in front of the emitter board on the left side of the freezer so that the beam is not blocked and see if the LED light turns solid instead of blinking. If it does, then the diagnostics for the emitter and receiver control boards passed and these components are likely okay.

If the boards are okay, it is likely that your failure is in the ice maker module (part W10190961). Unplug the refrigerator and make sure that the wire harness connection is plugged in properly. The image below shows how to remove the ice maker module. If the wire harness is plugged in properly, then replacing the ice maker module will likely fix your problem since the ice maker is not going into the harvest mode and the control boards are working.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website if needed.

If you need more help, submit additional details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
