Question and Answers

Q:

water filter installation 106.55632501

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com. Sorry to hear of the issue you are having installing the 9010 filter, I know how frustrating that is.

What is the part number for the original filter you have been using? I see that the 9010 is the original filter for model 106.55632501, and I don't see any substitutions from any other filter for the refrigerator. However, the 9010 should work just the same as the original if another filter had been used as it's the recommended filter by the manufacturer.

If you don't have the owners manual, I have attached a page below that you may refer to for the installation of the water filter. If you don't see the attachment, click here to see my response on ManageMyLife.com with attachment. Hopefully this helps.

Let me know if you have any further questions and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

The ice maker is not working. The water is not flowing in my model 106.55632501 refrigerator. What causes this?

A:

The red coil you see is the defrost heater. It should heat up when the refrigerator is going through a defrost cycle. The defrost cycle should happen every 10 hours and should last no longer than 25 minutes.

If the heater is staying on it will cause the freezer to warm up enough to keep the icemaker from working. If this is the case you need to replace the defrost timer. You can see the defrost timer and where it is located by going to [www.sears.com]. Select parts and enter your model number. Select the control parts page and item 6 is the defrost timer.

If the defrost timer is leaving the heater on it will heat and turn red until the temperature reaches 55 degrees on the evaporator coil which is located above the defrost heater. The defrost limit thermostat will then turn the defrost heater off and the refrigerator will cool until the defrost limit thermostat reaches 10-15 degrees at which point it closes and the heater comes back on. There is no damage of a fire but the freezer will not cool down to 10-15 degrees and the icemaker won't work.

If you need more assistance with the refrigerator send another email with the details of what you find and we will be glad to help.
