Question and Answers

Q:

refrigerator not cooling but can hear fan turning and compressor kick on 10655536400 Kenmore Refrigerator, sxs

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Sorry to hear of the cooling issue you're having with the refrigerator. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.
From the description you give most likely you have a sealed system or compressor problem. There are some things you can listen for. You mention you hear the fan turning, which one? The one by the compressor or in the freezer? The fan in the freezer must be turning and blowing air to enable the refrigerator to cool properly. The freezer would be cold but not cold enough. You can also check for any ice buildup in the freezer. If there is a defrost problem then the unit will not freeze properly. It could also be a defective thermostat causing the issue.
I would recommend a technician check this problem. If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

Refrigerator too cold freezing food and drinks 10655536400 Kenmore Refrigerator, sxs

A:

Thanks for the information about your refrigerator model 106.55536400; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to advise you on this issue.

When things are freezing in the fresh food section the first suspect is the diffuser. If the diffuser has broken with the door in the open position there will be no control of air moving from freezer to fresh food area. I would check the diffuser for icing, it is possible that there is just ice inside it causing the malfunction (use hair dryer to clear ice and inspect for broken parts. Replace if needed.

Link to Sears Parts Direct. If you should find the diffuser operating properly then other components must be tested for proper operation, most testing requires a technician who will have the high quality testing equipment. If you need more help reply with added details, if you need to schedule and experienced technician here is a link to Sears Home services.  Ron H.
