The thermostat in the ice maker triggers the harvest which should end with a water fill. If there is ice in the mold that never harvests then the thermostat might be at fault.

If there is no ice then the water valve may be bad or the will fill tube may be blocked with ice. This usually happens when the water valve doesn't completely shut off.

One trick to try first if the mold is empty is to add some water to the mold and let it freeze and see if the ice maker will harvest the ice.

You can reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

Thank you for your question. Replacing the auger can be a very difficult procedure even for a technician. In most cases, the complete bucket assembly # 2209779 is usually replaced. Unfortunately, there are no instructions for this procedure. I'm attaching a picture of the complete assembly for you to see. When taking this apart, make a note of each part as you remove it because it must go back together exactly the same way. Remove the retainer ring (# 40) and washer so the crusher housing (# 37) can be removed. You will then have access to the drum, auger and blades. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you. Yes, we already have this schematic printed out and have used it to remove the retainer ring and the crusher housing. However, since a substitution part was sent to us (under a Sears representative's instructions that "this would be minor and easy to repair") this schematic is totally NOT helpful because the auger we are supposed to now install is a spiral metal auger (very different than the schematic). I know we can call a Sears repair technician but it is very frustrating as we were guided by Sears to BUY a part for which we have no use or instruction how to use. TWICE Sears has sent this part (the first time apologizing that they had sent the wrong part), I have gone into my local Sears store, and now I have followed their last ditch attempt to get an answer through this website. To sum it up, I am very frustrated with Sears customer service. At this point, I don't even have confidence that the technician will know how to repair it using this part but will just make us buy the complete bucket. If that were the case, it would be far cheaper for me to just buy the bucket assembly as that is a breeze to install.

I'm very sorry you are having this problem. Unfortunately, this is a repair that would be very difficult to explain, without you being able to see it at the same time. I've done more research and was able to find a video of a very similar ice bucket and crusher assembly. I'm attaching the link below. I hope this will help you.
