Question and Answers

Q:

icemaker does not work 10655229400 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 106.55229400. From reviewing the details on your model, I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your ice maker. There are 3 main reasons for an icemaker to stop working: Temperature gets too warm (above 10 degrees), the icemaker itself, and the water valve. The freezer temperature should be between 0 - 5 degrees. To check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages, air temperature is not a good check. If the temperature is ok, the icemaker will need to be checked. To see if this icemaker will cycle, pull the front cover off and you will see 2 gears. Turn the small gear counterclockwise and the icemaker should start into a cycle. If it won't cycle, the icemaker will need to be replaced. If it does cycle, toward the end of the cycle it should fill with water. If it does not fill but you can hear a humming noise, the water valve will need to be replaced. If nothing happens some voltage checks will need to be made. I would suggest that you have a technician do this, because it can be very complicated.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your fridge and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 10655229400. If you are still getting water to the door you may have a bad valve on the water valve. You are also able to check if you are getting water to the ice maker, if no water is reaching the icemaker the valve is bad and will need to be replaced. Valve part number W10408180 and is number 10 in the diagram.
