Q:

Ice maker stopped working 10654783802 Kenmore Elite Side-by-side refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you.

1. Check the temperature of the freezer becasue if it is fewer than 17 degrees F it wont make ice.
2.Check if your water fill spout is plugged with ice, if it is then it wont make ice.
3. Check to see if water is getting to the water inlet valve.
4.Use an OHM meter to check the continuity of the water inlet valve. If it does not have any continuity then you need to replace your water valve. If it does then the icemaker itself is the problem and may need to be replaced.

You can try using some white vinegar to remove the water stains. I recommend that you try this substance on an inconspicuous test spot on the bottom or side of the door before using it on the front of the door to make sure that it will not harm the finish. Although the door has a stainless steel finish, there are various metals and coatings that are sometimes used the doors of these refrigerators. If the vinegar does not work, I recommend that you try a mild kitchen abrasive polish called Bar Keepers Friend. (Try this product on a test spot as described above.) I have used the Bar Keepers Friend to clean all surfaces in my kitchen and I have yet to find a surface that it harmed (yet). The link for the previous answer by Alina F that is provided above also suggests a couple of other products that may work.

The acceler ice mode will bring the temperature in the freezer down to a colder temperature for a 24 hr. period, thus increasing ice production. If this icemaker is leaking, it could be overfilling. Check the cubes to see if some are larger than others, especially during the times you have it set in the acceler ice mode. If it is overfilling, the most likely reason will be the smart valve not working properly. This can be a complicated system to check and I recommend having a technician check it. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
