Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Refrigerator not cooling or freezing

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model 106.54613300; sorry you are having a cooling/freezing problem, I will be glad to assist you. There are potentially many things that could prevent the refrigerator from no cooling; I will cover some basic check you can make to help determine the cause on your unit. First if the compressor is running, you should feel some heat around the cabinet near the doors as there are heater loops form the condensing unit to help prevent sweating. Also the condenser coils under the unit should be very warm, if you are not feeling this it would suggest a sealed system issue and a certified refrigeration technician will need to inspect for exact failure.(quite operation is often a sign of sealed system issues)Next; you say you cannot feel any air movement inside the unit, there is a fan in the freezer that will run if the compressor is running(or set to run) this fan moves cold air from freezer to fresh food side and inside the freezer, if this fan is not running there will be minimal cooling.  If the refrigerator was stored the fan may just be stuck and need some lubrication, it is located in the mid –section in back of freezer compartment.  Last if the freezer fan is running and blowing air, and you are feeling heat in areas I indicated then check the condenser fan motor operation that is located in the machine compartment by the compressor, this fan should run when the compressor is running and is there to keep the condenser cooled. It couls also just be stuck from storage or moving. I hope these tips help, if you need more help reply with additional details and I will be happy to respond.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.

A:

The answer Joseph P sent is for a different model refrigerator, but the instructions also fit your refrigerator.

Turn the refrigerator off or disconnect the power before starting.

Melt the ice with the hair dryer and you can lift the ice out in slabs to save time.

When the ice is removed and water is running down the drain tube you should put some water with a detergent in it through the drain tube to clear the obstruction that caused the problem.

Q:

i have a kenmore fridge and there is ice stuck in the icemaker, but it isn't dumping, so it hasn't made ice in days.

A:

The ice is so close, yet so far. This is not the time of year for no ice. While you wait for the expert answer, a suggestion I have is to check the owner's manual. It normally covers problems like this. I attached the link for your Fridge model below. I also found someone asked a similar question, I added that expert post as well. Hope this helps!
