Thanks. I read the first article. To be more specific, the problem with my ice maker is that it is not producing any ice. The ice maker switch is on, it is not in locked mode, and it is empty so the automatic shut-off beam is not interrupted. Regarding the first article you mentioned, there is no humming noise so it seems the water valve is not being energized.

I just ran the service diagnostic mode. Step 1 = code 1 (pass). Step 2 = code 1 (pass). Steps 3-6 all functioned. I didn't test the line voltage but could hear the component running. So everything is turned on and functional as far as I can tell yet no ice is being produced.

I checked the water valve input by opening the refrigerator door, holding in the door switch, and activating the water dispenser. Water came out and the water filter indicator had code 1 (pass). I repeated this for the ice maker side, and the ice maker dispenser runs but the water filter indicator was blank, so not sure if that's a pass or fail.

I took the ice maker apart and found a short circuit between the thermostat and control circuitry, and ordered a new ice maker since I think the updated version uses a different thermostat probably because of high warranty rates with the old one. Hey, and thanks for nobody helping me. That was great. This "service" was a waste of my time and I think it's primary purpose is to steer less technical users to a service call to increase your service revenue.

The place to start is to check if there is any water in the ice maker mold.

If there is no water then the water valve may be bad or the fill tube may be blocked with ice.

If there is water then the problem will likely be with the ice maker or the controls.

You can also check if there are any flashing lights in the freezer section.

Let me know if there is any water in the mold and we'll figure out the next step in resolving this problem.

Conrad, there are two usual suspects when no water is making it into the mold. The water valve is the problem or the fill tube is blocked with ice. When the ice maker tries to fill you should hear a buzz or hum from the valve. You can remove the plastic hose going from the valve up the back of the unit to the icemaker and see if any water ends up on the floor or a small container. No water would indicate a bad valve. Water from the valve would indicate the fill tube is blocked with ice. Removing the ice maker will give you a good look at the fill tube if you feel comfortable doing so.
