Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore side by side refridg model no 106.53862300 106.53862300

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear that the freezer is running constantly and is too cold. I know how frustrating that is to have happen.

I suspect that this issue is being caused by either a defective freezer thermistor (thermostat), part number 2216113, or the electronic control board, part number 2220513. These components would need to be tested with a meter to isolate which is at fault.

The average lifespan for a refrigerator is between 15-20 years if they are maintained. I would presume you still have some life left with the unit if it was maintained properly, but if the electronic control has gone out, it would be a larger expense that could go to a new unit.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-469-4663, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question. Im sorry you are having this problem with the fridge. If the display has failed the control board will probably need to be replaced. Sometimes resetting the board may correct the problem. To reset the board, disconnect the power for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. The frost accumulation on the back wall in this case, will probably also be caused by the control board. As the frost builds, the fridge section will get warmer. The frost accumulation could also be caused by a failed element or bi-metal but this would appear to be a control board problem. A technician would need to check it, to determine for sure. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you.
