Question and Answers

Q:

ice maker won't stop making ice 106.53762201 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the over ice production. If the switch is turned off and the icemaker continues to operate, the optic boards will need to be replaced. Both boards come together in a kit # 4389102. I'm also attaching some pictures with instructions to remove and replace the boards. I hope this helps you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

Should the diffuser or control board be replaced?

A:

There is a way to test this control, to determine which part will need to be replaced. To put this board into the diagnostic mode, press the control on button and the filter reset button simultaneously for 3 seconds. Diagnostics will begin at step 1 and you will need to get to step 5. To advance through the steps, press the filter reset button for 2 seconds or until it beeps. If the diffuser opens in this stage (5), the control board # 8201527 will need to be replaced. If it still won't open, voltage (120 volts) at the baffle between the white and black wire will need to be checked. If it won't open but you can hear the motor running, the diffuser # 2216112 will need to be replaced. These parts are available at Sears PartsDirect . If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
