Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with the refrigerator. The information you have received is good. If it did correct itself, give it at least 24 hours before checking the temperature. If its not cooling at all, it first needs to be determined if the compressor is running. If the compressor is running, the problem will probably be in the seal system or with the compressor. It could be a low charge, a restriction or the compressor may not be pumping properly. These are checks a technician will be required to make.

If the compressor is not running, it could be a problem with the starting device, the compressor itself or if the condenser motor is not running. If the motor is not running and the compressor is very hot, the motor will need to be replaced. If the motor is running but not the compressor, sometimes it can be difficult to determine if the problem is with the starting device or the compressor. If the starting device is burnt or if it rattles when shaken, it will indicate the starting device has failed. A technician will have a kit and meter, he can attach to the compressor, that will determine if the compressor or starting device has failed. Without this kit and meter, a chance can be taken to replace the starting device # 8201786 and capacitor # 2169373. If the compressor still wont run or if it runs but then quits again, it will need to be replaced. Im listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

I had a local guy come look and he says the starting device is bad. I guess that means I need part# 8201786. So how much should that part cost me?

And does replacing the starting device necessarily mean I have to replace the capacitor? If so -- I guess I need part # 2169373 also. And how much should that cost me?

A:

Robert, the starting device is listed for $ 65.97 and yes, I would also recommend replacing the capacitor at the same time. It's listed for $ 40.94. These prices do not include shipping or tax.

Q:

cu ft of my coldspot

A:

I can see it is important for you to have the cubic feet on the Coldspot refrigerator. Sometimes the manufacturer does not give the cubic feet of the freezer and refrigerator separately. An expert will research and respond with additional information within two business days. Thanks for your patience.

That is simply unbelievable and totally unhelpful. Here's another question: the freezer simply stopped cooling. runs but does not get cold. does not make unusual noise. what's a likely cause? after my wife saw that everything was melting she turned it off. i just turned it on. if it somehow simply corrected itself, how long would it take to start getting cold so i could feel it?

I can understand how important it is to have the right information for your refrigerator. The refrigerator section is 16.4 cubic feet and the freezer is 10.5 cubic feet. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
