Question and Answers

Q:

New filter problems Part number listed on the filter is 9010 which is the one your website instructed me to purchase.

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Kenmore Refrigerator model 106.53634300. I am so sorry you are having an issue with the water filter. I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the blue link below for you to view the owner's manual online in case you don't have a copy.

The replacement filter you purchased (9010) is the correct filter for your refrigerator. You mentioned that you had to use pliers to remove the old filter. Was the filter cap there? The cap is how you line up the filter and lock/unlock it in place. If the cap is missing, you will need to replace it. If the toe grille on your refrigerator is white, the cap part number is 2186494W. If it is bisque, the part number is 2186494T.

When removing the old filter it helps to push in slightly as you turn it counter clockwise and then pull outward. That helps break the vacuum seal that keeps the filter from leaking. Excessive force may damage the filter housing.
It also helps to press in lightly as your are turning the new filter in place. The position of the cap should let you know when the filter is in place. You want to start with the cap positioned vertically. Slide the filter into the filter housing and turn the cap clockwise until the filter is horizontal and lines up with the grille. Be sure to flush the water system after you have installed the new filter otherwise you may have dripping from the dispenser.

If the new filter will still not stay in place, then it may be a defective filter. Try another filter. If the issue is the filter, contact Kenmore.com and let customer service know the filter was faulty. If the issue persists with a new filter, then it possible that the filter housing is damaged and needs to be replaced. In that case, you would need to order part number 2186443.

If  you would prefer to have a technician complete that repair for you, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663. I hope this answers your questions. If you need further assistance, please resubmit your question with additional details. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

Door handle 10653634300 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when needing information on the refrigerator.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore Refrigerator model number 106.53634300.

I have a picture of the freezer door on the link below.   Both handles are the same and same principles of the handle to tightnen down.

The handle is key number 2.   You grasp the handle with both hands and gently lift it straight up.   Doing that it will come off where you can see the 2 screws at the top and the two at the bottom of the handle area.  When you get the handle off, gently pull the gasket to the side and you will see the screws to tighten down for the brace that the handle slides onto.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing a problem with freezing in the crisper pan, I will be glad to assist with this.
Cold air balance in the fresh food section can be a difficult task at times. There a many factors that can affect temperatures ranges from top to bottom of the unit. You have two controls for overall temperature balance. The fresh food or refrigerator control is the control that cycles the compressor on and off, (set higher it runs longer and gets colder in both sections). The freezer control adjust the air flow from freezer to refrigerator, a higher setting reduces air to fresh food section and allows more cold air to stay in freezer so freezer temp will go down, and forces the fresh food control to keep the compressor running to satisfy its needs while a lower setting warms freezer by allowing more air to fresh food and satisfies fresh food sooner.
Setting the controls at equal normally works best, depending on your personal use, food load, door openings and desired temperatures.
You have two crispers, the veggie crisper, and the meat pan, (the lowest pan) in the unit. There are air controls for the meat pan and if they are set too cold some air can affect the veggie pan above, try closing the meat pan control and set the humidity control for the veggie pan to higher humidity.
If these setting do not help you may have to plug or cover the air return on left side of meat pan, this will not affect unit operation and may solve the freezing issue.
And last, if you do not enter the unit often (no use for entire day or days) and have set fresh food control to a warmer temperature it can cause cold freezing air to migrate from freezer to fresh food through the return air vent at bottom of the refrigerator resulting in freezing in the bottom of the fresh food section. So best setting is mid-range for fresh food control to keep the unit running more.
I hope these tips help, if you continue to have issues I would recommend have the refrigerator serviced by a technician.

Thanks Ron H.
