Question and Answers

Q:

my frig and freezer stopped colling 10653584300 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: 106.53584300. From reviewing the details on your model, if you've already tried replacing the light bulbs and the lights still will not turn on, the most likely reason for this will be a failed door switch. I would check the door switches for continuity. The only other possibility would be a wiring issue.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

ice cubes freezing together in bin

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you.  I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

Do we know exactly that there is water leaking from the icemaker to freeze this ice together? A lot of the time when ice freezes together is from poor insulation. I would suggest checking the freezer and fridge door gaskets. Also check the ice chute door, dispense some ice and see if the chute door closes.

If it does close then put your hand up to it and see if any air is coming out. If you feel anything you might want to replace that as well. But if all seals check out then the issue would lie in the water inlet valve. The solenoid on the ice side is going out and letting too much water in when feeling the icemaker. I would need to be changed.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. If you have any further questions or concerns, you will have to post a new question. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

diagnosis of icemaker and cold water dispensor

A:

Thank you for your question. I will be happy to help you with the refrigerator so your son can concentrate on finals. The symptoms do point toward the water supply. The filter may be the cause. This model has a status light that will change from green to yellow when the water filter needs to be changed. A few production models do not have the status light.  The filter should be changed every six to nine months. Instructions to change the water filter can be found in this manual .  The water filter part is #9010 You can also check to see if the problem exists without the filter by removing the water filter and replacing the cap. That will bypass the filter and water is delivered directly to the valve for the dispenser and ice maker. If the problem still exists, the water valve needs to be replaced. The part # is 2255457. There are further tests that can be made to the ice maker, but if water is also not flowing to the dispenser, it is the filter or valve. All the parts and diagrams for this model can be found at Sears Parts Direct. If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Mnaage My Life.

My question is about the ice maker also. The Model Number is 106.53584300. If this model is equipped with the status light where would it be located? My problem is the small duct on the Acceller-ice fan discharge duct It fills with water and freezes. Water is also getting into the bin and freezing the cubes together under this duct. This makes it impossible to remove the bin until all of this has been thawed out. What could be causing this?
