Question and Answers

Q:

Freezer frosting over and too cold 10653369300 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model10653369300; the drain could be defrosted with warm water. Remove as much of the pooled water. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt any ice on the top of the drain. Then use warm water to melt the ice in the drain.  Sometimes the drain freezing can affect the temperature of the freezer. It just depends on how much ice has built up. Check the temperature and see if it changes when you lower the temperature. Listen to the refrigerator to see if it is running in intervals.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Hi Jeff, I have tried that. I used a hair dryer until it drained out the bottom like normal but it just freezes over again later. I don't really every hear any cycles like it is constantly running trying to get colder. Like I said, its so cold in there that the ice cream is a rock and my water line is frozen solid. Please let me know what else could be at fault. Thank you for your help!!!

I'm sorry you are having this problem. When the drain keeps freezing closed, there is a heat probe # 819043 that will help prevent this from occurring. This kit is available at SearsPartsDirect and will come with instructions. I suspect you know how to access the drain, since you have been clearing it.

A good check for the water dispenser will be press the dispenser lever and listen for a humming sound. If you do hear this, it indicates the water valve is being energized but its not opening. In this case, usually the water valve # 4389178 will need to be replaced. It could also be a frozen water line in the door or water tank but this would be a rare occurrence. I hope this helps you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.
